Sub-Zero Souffles

These are absolutely delicious. I made them for some friends that were going to come for dinner, but then had to cancel at the last minute. Great thing is they store perfectly in the freezer. So now I have dessert ready to go for whenever I need. Maybe this weekend with the in-laws coming down?

I got this recipe from Kraft Canada Magazine. You can also search it on their website.

This recipe takes about 15-20minutes of your time to prep, and 5 hours in the freezer. Great if you want to do ahead of time for guests or just to have on hand for those hot summer days.

Okay so this is what you need....

  • 3 cups of milk
  • 2 packages of Jell-O Chocolate pudding (4 serving size packages)
  • 1 1/2 cups of thawed Cool Whip Whipped topping
  • 16 Oreo cookies chopped with cream center (although I ended up using a whole package of Oreo's minus 2) - about 2 cups
  • Maraschino cherries (I used regular cherries because I think maraschino cherries are a little gross, plus regular fresh cherries taste so much better. You could easily compensate with strawberry slices, or blueberries too)
  • 8 (1 cup/250ml) Paper cups & tin foil

To get started...

Pour milk into a bowl, and add in pudding mix. Whisk for 2 minutes by hand. Gently stir in whipped topping.

Spoon 2 tablespoons of chopped Oreo cookies into each cup.

Spoon in the pudding mix covering the Oreos. You should have used about half of the pudding mix when done with all eight cups. Repeat with another Oreo layer.

And then one last pudding layer.

Cover with tin foil, and place in the freezer for 5 hours. Now go and sit and have a cup of tea, or relax as you wait for dessert to chill.

When the times up peel the paper cups off and place dessert upside down on a plate or serving dish. Top with a cherry or piece of fruit. Tada! Finished, and looking amazing.

This is what the Kraft ones looked like up close. (Excuse the crunched paper lines. My little monkey decided he was going to try his hand at them and crinkled the magazine for me)

And how mine turned out. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Super easy, and absolutely delicious, plus they look great. What a way to entertain and impress without a lot of work, so you can focus on the important things, like conversation, and memories.

*** This dessert can be a little rich in flavor. If you do not like very rich desserts try and only do one layer each of the Oreo cookies and pudding mix. You'll be able to make more and have smaller portions. You could always have seconds, right?

Good luck, and hope you enjoy them. Let me know how yours turn out.
