Not Resolutions

So with every year that passes people always tend to make resolutions and then fail on them within a few months, or two, or mere days. At least that's the sense I get from everyone I know who makes resolutions. Since I can remember, besides when I was forced to write resolutions at school for projects, I have always waited until late January or February to really find a few things that I want to challenge myself with. I don't like the idea of resolutions as I find them too frustrating, and I will fail at them, however I do like and very much enjoy the idea of creating goals that I have the year to attain - hopefully.

I have recently been reading through various blogs, some of friends, and some of just blogs I like to follow where most people have stated the same thing. Instead of resolutions they've put out a list of things they want to get done this year. I really like that idea, because it gives you a goal yet allows you the flexibility to pick and choose, and not stress over it. Plus if some goals are not met this year, you can always carry them on into next. :)

So here's my current list of 10 - although knowing me I'm sure this list will expand expedentially like I tend to like to do, adding projects, and new challenges.

  • Spend more time with God by being in the Word more regularly & making active decisions to memorize, and apply scripture daily. Discipline!
  • Make or do something creative every week for myself, family, home, or friends.
  • Try a new recipe every1-2 weeks minimum
  • Spend more time on photography - 'real' photography with film.
  • Be more intentional about meeting with friends, listening better, and going out of my way for people. Try and make this something I do every week in some way.
  • Read through my many books. Would like to say I can commit to a book a month, but not sure that's realistic, so a book every 2 months.
  • Spend more intentional one on one time with Kylun this year - Mommy & son dates. All about him!
  • Be consistent in prioritizing a date night every 2 weeks, or month with Pete.
  • Try and find an exercise routine that works for me to be more active and that can work on any given day. With that, find a way to be motivated somehow. :)
  • Try and remember all family birthdays this year. Last year I remembered exactly 4 out of my side of the family, out of 33. Not too impressive really.

So that's my list of goals for this year. What are your goals?

Thanks for reading along.
