Lately it seems I keep being drawn back to home decorating and room inspiration. From amazing lamps, chairs, wall décor, bedding sets, and elaborate painting and wallpaper. I have been so inspired by the ugly, the beautiful, the quirky, the vintage, the artistic, and everything in between.
But let's be serious on our budget the hope of purchasing all our items regular price and achieving the perfect look we want in all the rooms of our house is not always quite possible. So you settle for the current make-shift clean, nice, inexpensive 'IKEA' or patchwork furniture look and try to slowly add your finishing touches by means of small décor and amazing throws, pictures, etcetera. Leaving the large pieces and finishing touches to slowly evolve as funds come in. So that maybe in 20 years you can look back at your home and feel like you've finally achieved the image you want despite the time and fight to get things there, and enduring potentially, maybe even a couple years there with ugly things knowing one day it would change.
So for those of us that do not have the money to purchase regular priced, high end items for our home decorating needs all the time or at all during points in our life, here is a great website I found and have been drooling over with excitement. I do not always have the time to fully dedicate to all of these projects right now, but there are definitely some amazing ones which inspire future projects or maybe adaptation in my current limited time.
I sometimes wish that I had the time for things like this. Now I'm not talking just a few hours a day (although really I'd welcome whatever I can get), but more so a few weeks at a time to spew out all the creative ideas, inspiration, and dreams I'd like to put into my everyday living space. Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to spend that time creating the perfect space, the little nooks, the freedom of expression through your 'nest'?
So the website is called
'Knock Off Décor - because imitation is the highest form of flattery'. It is wonderfully organized so you can go through top decorating, and furniture sites and see the way the ideas have been turned into reality with a much smaller price tag.
I tell you whether you're into decorating or would rather someone else do all the 'dirty' work for you this site so far has proven to be amazing for inspiration and personally encouraging being a 'I can do it myself for way cheaper' girl. I'm all about finding a bargain and seeing more than the eye can see girl. So many ugly things have great potential (and some 'ugly' things are also just what a room could use to really transform a space from good to
amazing - it's all in the contrast), and this site just goes to show what that can all look like.
Well I'll leave you to peruse at your leisure and leave you with some of my faves from the site.
